About

Misfit Farm began as an idea inspired by misfit animals—those in need of care, love, and a place to belong. The name itself is rooted in the vintage holiday story Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, where characters who didn’t quite fit in still found purpose and acceptance. The first true “misfit” on the farm in 2011 was my cat, Hocus, who was born with six toes on his paws and a crooked tail, yet lived a long, loving life until 2025.  Hocus showed me that differences are something to be cherished. At its heart, Misfit Farm is also deeply personal: I am the original misfit, born with hip and spine disabilities that put me in braces in my younger years and shaped by experiences of being truly bullied. Instead of letting those challenges define me, I chose to live life fully, embracing resilience, creativity, and joy. The song “there’s always tomorrow,” also from Rudolph, and the sweet melody that has stayed with me all my life—a reminder that even the cruelest situations do not define you. In our own ways, we are all misfits, and what began as a reflection of that truth has grown into a farm and rustic, small-batch baking concept that celebrates imperfection, individuality, and the belief that everyone deserves love, acceptance, and a fresh start for dreams to come true.
